Buganda`s demands are justfiable says Kivumbi

BUGANDA`S DEMANDS ARE JUSTFIABLE-Says Kivumbi.....

BUGANDA KINGDOM

The kingdom of Buganda is one of the largest on the soils of Africa with her people called Baganda among the Bantu-speaking group of People.
Its rise was at the expense of the downfall of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom that had stretched to as far as Karagwe-Nothern Tanganyika was concerned under King Kabalega.

At the coming of the white man (Brutish) in early 18th Century, the kingdom emerged more strong and stronger and it became the heart of Uganda with Adminsitrative, Commerial and most executive residential Centres allocated in it.

In 1900 our ancestors witnessed the famous Buganda agreement that was signed in recognising the colonial leadership.
In 1962 when Uganda attains her Independence with Kabaka Mutesa 1 as the first President.
The nation succumbed to so many presidents in a short while till when 1981 Obote the by then President heard roomers of a rebel group in Luwero forests that he gave a cold shoulder claiming that they were only scouts making there jokes in the jungles.
It was however a surprise that the twenty seven scouts
As he thought took over power under son of Mzee Amos Kaguta in 1986 and in 1996 after the 1995 constitutional ammendement, president Museveni transformed from a millitarian into a civilian ruler following the 1996 elections that he won by 79%. He has since then been the president.

Among the restorations he made to Buganda which gave him a very influential hand of support during his bush war were enabling the restoration of kingship and we witness the inauguration of the Kabaka in 1994 at Nagarabi. The Lubiri (Palace) that had been occupied by the army barracks since the reign of Amin Dada-Filed marshal along side Amasiro-Kasubi tombs amongst others such as Kabaka`s lake in Rubaga-Mengo, Bulange court were also returned.

In spite of that all, Buganda has unceasingly demanded for the return of the 9000 square miles, recognising Kampala City as part of Buganda and biggest of all the federal system of governance.
The demands of Buganda have involved so many meetings with the State but the productivity of it all hasn’t been reached so far.
The N.R.M Gent keeps on making not only endless but empty promises and has used times of elections to assume more serious over grunting Buganda it’s remaining claims. Ironically after the winning all elections, it doesn’t want anyone to mention them again!
Mengo Royalists have reached to the extent of saying that all policies that the government initiates are pressing Buganda on the wall with the recent proposal of land Bill tabled before Parliament.

Once the richest, most powerful and influential Kingdom has now been manipulated by greedy politicians. Today the parents who always offered tuition for their children and relatives can’t make it anymore. The income generating activities such as livestock/agricultural activities have been greatly neglected by the Government giving no chance for Buganda to be in position of producing an elite generation who would be capable of
Sustaining, leading and developing the Kingdom and the entire country.

To those who have pressurised the government in talking about issues that pain Buganda have been detained and subjected to torture by the government security organs such as the Police, C.I.D, C.M.I, Black Mamba, P.G.B the list is endless.
The likes of Betty Nambooze Kireke, Charles Peter Mayiga, and Medadi Lubega Segona amongst others haven’t survived the agony that the government inflicts against them.
C.B.S presenters such as Sozzi Kaddumuka Jero (Mambo Bado-Programe) Medi Nsereko Sebuliba (Kiriza Obagana) to mention but afar have been summoned several times and intimidated by the government on charges of inciting violence because they talk about Buganda issues.
Can you imagine the Radio has been more than twice cautioned for closure!

Buganda`s claims are justifiable

Says Kivumbi Earnest Benjamin, future President of Uganda.
